StreetSmart – ‘helping the homeless’ – is into its November 2008 campaign and they have over 225 restaurants to participating across VIC, QLD, NSW and ACT- the biggest campaign yet.

About StreetSmart

StreetSmart is a bridge between the community and small, grassroots agencies that help homeless people. It supports critical services and emergency aid as well as projects that promote social inclusion, empowerment and sustainable change for people who are homeless. When money is raised from the public through their fundraising events, 100 per cent of donations are distributed in the form of grants. To date they have raised and distributed over $485,000.

Adam Robinson’s StreetSmart idea is very simple and it works – a small contribution is added to a restaurant bill at participating restaurants for a short time each year and the impact this makes is substantial. Even in these financially uncertain times we can all chip in a few dollars when we dine out to help fund the vital and innovative work of smaller agencies.

What Can You Do?

Book a table at a participating restaurant and encourage friends, work colleagues and family to also participate and donate.

StreetSmart Brings the Community Together

StreetSmart not only raises much needed funding for smaller agencies, they also work to connect our community.

  • Through meeting at a StreetSmart “get together” Thierry Galichet from Montrachet Restaurant, Brisbane recently hosted nine ladies from the 139 Club program for a very special evening. “Thanks Thierry you’re a legend”.
  • Homeless World Cup – Three years ago StreetSmart made a small grant to the Big Issue to help seed fund a street soccer program. This year they will host the Homeless World Cup in Fed Square, Melbourne from 1-7 December.
