Georgie Coram, Zero Waste Community Campaigner at Environment Vic has notified us about the new Sustainable Festive Season Guide they’ve developed.
Over a discussion about plans for Christmas the Environment Vic crew realised they were looking for ways to celebrate sustainably over a period most definitely known for OVER consumption! They still wanted to have a genuine celebration – nothing half-hearted or austere (!) – which led to the Festive Season Guide, a re-think about the priorities for the season and a move away from over-consumption, unnecessary spending and the ‘stress of excess’.
About The Guide
The info is divided into three sections:
- Gifts
- Food
- Decorations
In each section there is an outline of the major associated environmental problems and some practical and ‘easy’ sustainable ways you can opt for to lessen your impact on this festive season.
Do you have some ideas?
If you have some ideas on sustainable celebrations – perhaps a tip on decorations, wrapping paper, food or drink – email them to Georgie zerowaste@envict.org.au and they’ll be posted on the Zero Waste page of the website.
For more info or for a hard copy of the Guide phone Georgie on 03 9341 8164.
A great idea Georgie and Mark!
