Kate Lawrence, of Macedon in the foothills of the Great Divide to Melbourne’s north-west, writes about being ‘Overwhelmed By Nature’ in her brand new website ‘Fire in Mind‘.
Kate writes:
“The first blog! I have circled round and round this task like a shark around a rowing boat. Not because I didn’t want to do it, just that typical procrastination when a task appears a little overwhelming and you don’t quite know where to start.
Reminds me a lot of my first year or two living in a bushfire prone area and not knowing where to start. Everywhere I looked there were jobs screaming at me. Our house is treated-pine weatherboard, 25 years old and almost peeling off the house on the north side. The baseboards boast great warping that leaves enormous gaps for embers to fly in and ignite all that “stuff” so conveniently stored there…”
About The New Website
Kate says her ‘new child’ is:
- an online community forum – inviting your participation
- an equipment store – with vital products for sale
- a directory
- an information website and newsletter for people across Australia who live with the risk of bushfire

This is an excellent site, really easy to navigate, strongly recommend it for Black Saturday survivors and their families, both to read and to contribute their thoughts on planning ahead – hindsight being a pretty good teacher. I think schools will add something to the mix too.
